This time last year we had just moved into the house. See this entry
We had no electricity upstairs, had to use a lamp to light up the bathroom and extension cords to power everything (which then had to be moved downstairs each morning for the builder to use). Our bed had arrived but mattress hadn't so we were using a spare that was too small for the frame. All my stuff and some of Dom's were in bags everywhere. Only the two bedrooms had carpet. Downstairs we didn't have a working kitchen, our fridge was in our living room, our 'dining table' was a fold out table and our chairs were two office chairs, a rolling office chair and the builder's England flag chair. The room was full of dust and dirt and building equipment, as was the hallway. We were using our bedroom as our living room and our living room as our 'kitchen/dining room'. Trying to keep clean and organised was a difficulty. Our porch was filling was rubbish.
It was a nightmare.
But a year on it's looking amazing (as many of you will get to see in the next few weeks). It's not finished but it's a huge improvement and almost unrecognisable from its previous state.
Tonight we're celebrating that first week we lived here with no kitchen and survived on takeaways but, yup, ordering a takeaway. XD Nothing fancy but a little gesture to say 'we made it - this is partly thanks to our efforts. And hey, one year on we haven't killed each other. Score!'
